RKW opened its latest hygiene film plant on Sept. 26 in Franklin, KY. The ribbon cutting ceremony was led by Hansjakob Mueller, chairman of the RKW supervisory board. Opening the day’s proceedings, Roland Roth, the company’s CEO said, “RKW is celebrating today not only the start-up of hygiene film production in Franklin, but also the new era of true global expansion for the RKW Group.” Roth went on to add, “RKW will continue to extend its global footprint in the coming years, bringing new and exciting opportunities not only to our shareholders and customers, but also to our markets in general.” Congratulating the project team for a timely and successful completion of the new investment in Franklin, Manfred Bracher, vice president of the global business area hygiene, announced plans for further expansion over the next few years. “The successful entry of RKW into the North American hygiene market with Hyfol backsheet film is just the beginning,” he said. “To complement further capacity coming on-stream, RKW will be rolling out other key products in the future.” Addressing the local industry and community leaders present at the event, Frank Schuermann, head of the business unit Franklin, extended his thanks to Simpson County for its continued support in the growth of the manufacturing plant. “RKW has invested heavily in this plant bringing new employment to the area, and providing a platform for future growth,” he said. “Our people here at RKW Danafilms are highly committed to turning this exciting new business opportunity into the next stage of the RKW success story.” RKW produces film, nonwoven and laminates on 4 continents and maintains a leading position on the global hygiene and medical market.
